Free Birth Chart Calculator
Your full natal chart: sun, moon, rising and every planet.
Don't know it? Leave blank for your sun and moon. Your rising sign, houses and the full wheel need a birth time.
Not sure? Leave it on Placidus. It is the most common system and a safe default. Whole Sign is the older system many astrologers prefer, and the rest are here for those who already know they want them.

What is a birth chart?
A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born. It plots the Sun, Moon and planets against the twelve zodiac signs and the twelve houses, and astrologers read it as a portrait of your character, patterns and potential. It is a tool for reflection, not a fixed prediction.
What your free birth chart includes
Enter your birth date, time and place and the calculator reveals, in plain language:
- Your sun, moon and rising signs, the three placements most people start with.
- All ten planets by zodiac sign and house, from Mercury through to Pluto.
- Your ascendant and midheaven, the main angles of the chart.
- The twelve houses, the areas of life each energy falls in.
- The major aspects, the conversations between your planets.
- A full chart wheel, drawn in the Lunar Haus style.
How to calculate your birth chart
Three details are all you need:
- Date of birth. The day, month and year you were born.
- Time of birth. As exact as you can, ideally to the minute from your birth certificate. This is what sets your rising sign and houses.
- Place of birth. Start typing your town and choose it from the list; the calculator works out the timezone and coordinates for you.
Do you need your birth time?
It helps, but you can begin without it. Leave the time blank and you will still see your sun and moon signs. Your rising sign, your houses and the full chart wheel need a birth time, because the sky turns a full circle roughly every twenty four hours. If you were born close to midnight or near a sign boundary your moon sign can shift too, so an accurate time is worth tracking down.
Your big three: sun, moon and rising
Three placements form the heart of any chart. Your sun sign is your core self and the energy that drives you. Your moon sign is your inner, emotional world. Your rising sign, or ascendant, is the way you meet the world, and it is set by the exact time and place of your birth, which is why your birth time matters so much.
How to read your chart wheel
The wheel has a few layers. The outer ring holds the twelve zodiac signs. Inside it sit the twelve houses, the areas of life, numbered from your rising sign on the left. The planets are placed by sign and house, showing where each energy lives in your chart. The lines across the centre are the aspects, the angles between planets that show how they work together. When you are ready to go deeper, The Library walks through the twelve signs, the twelve houses and the planets one by one.
A gentle note
Astrology is a language of symbols, a lens for self reflection and meaning, rather than a science of cause and effect. Read your chart as a mirror and a prompt: take what resonates, and leave the rest.
Birth chart calculator FAQ
Is this birth chart calculator free?
Yes. Your full natal chart, including every planet, house and aspect, is completely free, and you do not need an account to see it. You can choose to save your chart or have it emailed to you, but that is optional.
How do I calculate my birth chart?
Enter your date of birth, your time of birth and your place of birth, then select Reveal my chart. The calculator works out where the Sun, Moon and planets were at that exact moment and draws your chart wheel.
Do I need to know my exact birth time?
For your full chart, yes. Your rising sign and houses depend on the time to the minute. Without a birth time you can still see your sun and moon signs; leave the time blank and the calculator will tell you which parts of the reading are less precise.
What does my birth chart tell me?
It shows your sun, moon and rising signs plus every planet by sign and house, and the aspects between them. Read together they describe your character, your needs and your patterns. It is a mirror for reflection, not a prediction of fixed events.
How accurate is this birth chart calculator?
It uses astronomical calculations for the planets, the tropical zodiac and the Placidus house system, and it works out the correct timezone from your birthplace, including historical daylight saving. As long as your birth time and place are accurate, your chart will be too.
Is my birth information private?
Your chart is calculated in your own browser and nothing is stored unless you choose to save it or email it to yourself. Your birth details are never sold or shared.
